HOW MANY CLOTH PADS DO I NEED? WHICH SIZE?
Please check out the Buyer's Guide for a recommendation of pads to fit you needs.

HOW DO I WASH MY CLOTH PADS?
It doesn't have to be any more complicated than washing your clothes! Please read the Use & Care guide for detailed instructions and helpful tips.

DO CLOTH PADS GET STAINED?
Not really. Our minky and jersey-topped pads are stain-resistant, so even with no special care, they should have little to no staining. As a natural fabric, flannel-topped pads have a bit more potential for staining, but that can usually be easily remedied by rubbing a stain stick or a little baking soda onto the area before washing. You can also simply choose a darker-colored print to hide any discoloration, keeping in mind that stains are merely a cosmetic issue - not an indication that your pad is dirty.

DO CLOTH PADS LEAK?
To prevent leaks, Cozy Folk pads are backed with premium water-resistant Wind Pro fleece. This is used as a softer, more breathable alternative to the polyurethane laminate (PUL) used in many brands of cloth pads. As long as you use the appropriate absorbency pad and change your pad within a reasonable amount of time, leaks shouldn't be an issue. However, if it’s your first time using cloth pads, you might want to just wear them around the house for a couple days until you become more comfortable with them.

CAN ANYONE USE CLOTH PADS? WHAT ABOUT "MAMA CLOTH"?
If you’ve ever used a disposable pad or tampon, you can use cloth! "Mama cloth" is just another name for cloth menstrual pads, though at Cozy Folk, we usually prefer more inclusive terms. After all, mothers aren't the only people who menstruate! We warmly welcome people of all ages and genders. If cloth pads have the potential to improve your life in some way, we want to help!

CAN I USE CLOTH PADS FOR BLADDER LEAKS?
While cloth pads generally don't provide enough protection for major incontinence, they work wonderfully for the little leaks caused by coughing or sneezing. A thin, barely-there pantyliner might be all you need for mild stress incontinence. We recommend trying the 10" pantyliners rotated around so that the wider end is toward the front of the body.

CAN I USE CLOTH PADS FOR PREGNANCY & POSTPARTUM?
Yes, cloth pads are a wonderful choice for new moms! If you experience frequent discharge or urine leaks during your pregnancy, pantyliners can be very helpful. Once your baby arrives, the bleeding can be quite heavy for the first few days. We recommend wearing a larger pad than you normally would and having plenty of pads ready so that you can change them frequently. Our postpartum set offers a collection of our largest heavy absorbency pads, perfect for the days following childbirth. If you'll be cloth diapering your baby, you can wash your pads in the same laundry load - keep this in mind when deciding how many pads you'll need. Of course, once your regular period returns, you can continue to use these pads during your cycle.

CAN I USE CLOTH PADS WHEN I GO SWIMMING?
Like disposable pads, cloth pads aren't very effective while swimming - but unlike disposables, they won't swell up and fall apart! When internal protection is needed, consider trying a menstrual cup like LENA Cup, DivaCup, or Lunette.

Please note: Due to safety concerns, we do NOT recommend sea sponges or other "reusable tampons" for internal use. It's especially important to ensure that any internal product you use comes from a reputable manufacturer (here's a helpful list of FDA registered menstrual cups).

ARE COZY FOLK PADS VEGAN?
Absolutely! Cozy Folk cloth pads contain no wool, silk, leather, or other animal products. Everything else we sell is vegan-friendly, too.

ARE COZY FOLK PADS MADE FROM NATURAL/ORGANIC FABRICS?
Cozy Folk pads & pantyliners are backed with Polartec Wind Pro 100% polyester fleece (manufactured in the United States), and they’re topped with your choice of conventionally grown 100% cotton flannel, 100% polyester jersey, or 100% polyester minky. All absorbent cores contain conventionally grown 100% cotton flannel; Moderate and Heavy flow pads also have additional layers of bamboo fleece (70% viscose rayon from bamboo + 30% organic cotton). Cozy Folk pads & pantyliners are sewn with a combination of heavy duty nylon and polyester threads.

A word on viscose from bamboo: bamboo fabrics are often considered to be "organic" because bamboo grows so easily without pesticides or fertilizers. However, significant processing is required to transform stalks of bamboo into soft fabric, so the resulting viscose material is actually considered to be semi-synthetic, not natural. Nonetheless, bamboo fleece is one of the best absorbent fabrics available, and we source ours from a factory that uses a "closed loop" system to minimize environmental impact.

ARE COZY FOLK PADS FDA REGISTERED?
As required by law, Cozy Folk cloth pads are registered with the US Food & Drug Administration. (Please note that registration should not be confused with "FDA approval," as the FDA does not officially approve or endorse any menstrual product.) While you might find cheaper pads elsewhere, you can be confident that Cozy Folk is a legally operating small business committed to offering safe, high-quality cloth pads.
